Shuttle

U Drive Bus Rentals

Once again the good folks at U-Drive Bus Rentals are providing a shuttle bus so that we can offer a race day shuttle service for all participants.

You can reserve a seat when you register for the race. The cost is $25 per person on the shuttle per day. You can select which day(s) you need the shuttle service. For example, if you’re paddling the 44 km RRPC you only need Sunday shuttle and if you’re paddling Les Voyageurs Challenge you might need both days.

If you happen to register and then later on decide you need a shuttle, please contact us and we’ll get you signed up.

Important: If you are signing up for a shuttle for both days, please note that the procedures are different for each day. Contact us if you have any questions or need any assistance. Especially those out of town paddlers with limited local support.

Saturday, September 19

How the Saturday shuttle works

The Saturday shuttle is a passenger van with trailer (space is limited). The shuttle will run Saturday morning and will leave The Forks at 7:00 a.m. Paddlers signed up for the shuttle will meet with their boats and paddling gear at The Forks. Plan to arrive at The Forks by 6:30 a.m. and absolutely no later than 6:40 a.m. so that you have enough time to load your boat and paddling gear onto the trailer. Paddlers are responsible for tying their own boats to the trailer. Specific meeting location details will be sent to all shuttle passengers.

Paid parking is available throughout The Forks. Please ensure you pay for parking for the duration of the day to ensure you don’t get a parking ticket.

The shuttle will leave The Forks at 7:00 a.m. and drive to the Ste Agathe boat launch. The drive is approximately 45 minutes. Upon arrival, paddlers can unload their boats/gear, check in with race volunteers, and stage their boat.

How the Sunday shuttle works

The Sunday shuttle is a 24 person shuttle bus (space is limited). The shuttle will run Sunday morning and will leave Lockport at 7:30 a.m. The shuttle is available to assist paddlers position their vehicles at the end of the race and will not transport boats. Paddlers who are taking the shuttle should stage their boat at St Vital Park, get registered, then drive to Lockport to be ready to take the shuttle back to Winnipeg. Plan to leave St Vital Park no later than 6:30 a.m. as it’s a 45 minute drive to Lockport. The shuttle leaves Lockport at 7:30 a.m.

The shuttle will transport the driver back to St Vital Park. Only drivers of vehicles need to use the shuttle. Paddling partners should stay at the starting point with their boats.

Finish line area parking on Sunday

For those who are not using the shuttle and would like to drop off a vehicle at the finish line area, vehicles can be parked the morning of the race at the Half Moon Drive In Parking Lot and left there for the day. Be sure to plan your timing accordingly as the approximate travel time back to the starting area in Winnipeg is 45 minutes and you still need to go through registration and boat staging. For those doing this, we highly recommend registering and staging your boat at St Vital Park prior to dropping off your vehicle in Lockport (registration opens at 6:15 a.m.). This helps to ensure that everyone can get through registration in a timely manner without delaying or missing the start of the race.
